Terms and Conditions – Equinox Horse Transport

  1. Introduction 1.1. These Terms and Conditions govern the use of Equinox Horse Transport’s horsebox self drive hiring services. By accessing or using our services, you agree to abide by these terms. 1.2. Equinox Horse Transport reserves the right to modify or update these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice. It is your responsibility to review these terms periodically for changes. Your continued use of our services after any modifications constitutes acceptance of those changes.

  2. Service Description 2.1. Equinox Horse Transport offers the hiring out of horsebox vans for daily use. 2.2. The minimum hire period is one day, with the option to book for multiple days. 2.3. The customer is responsible for replacing fuel used during the hire period upon return of the vehicle.

  3. Booking and Payment 3.1. To secure a booking, customers are required to pay 50% of the full booking amount at the time of booking using PayPal. 3.2. The remaining 50% of the booking amount is to be settled prior to collection. 3.3. Equinox Horse Transport reserves the right to cancel any booking if payment is not received in accordance with these terms.

  4. Cancellation and Refunds 4.1. Customers may cancel their booking up to 48 hours before the scheduled start time of the hire period to receive a full refund. 4.2. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the scheduled start time will not be eligible for a refund. 4.3. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, Equinox Horse Transport may cancel a booking. In such cases, a full refund will be provided to the customer.

  5. Vehicle Usage 5.1. The horsebox van must be used only for its intended purpose of transporting horses. 5.2. Customers are responsible for ensuring that the horsebox van is returned in the same condition as it was at the start of the hire period, subject to fair wear and tear. 5.3. Any damage caused to the vehicle during the hire period will be the responsibility of the customer, and they will be liable for the cost of repairs.

  6. Liability 6.1. Equinox Horse Transport shall not be liable for any loss, damage, or injury arising from the use of its services, except where such loss, damage, or injury is caused by the negligence or wilful misconduct of Equinox Horse Transport. 6.2. Customers are responsible for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of any horses transported in the horsebox van.

  7. Indemnity 7.1. Customers agree to indemnify and hold Equinox Horse Transport harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from their use of the services.

  8. Governing Law 8.1. These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. 8.2. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

  9. Severability 9.1. If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

  11. Entire Agreement 11.1. These Terms and Conditions constitute the entire agreement between Equinox Horse Transport and the customer with respect to the hiring out of horsebox vans and supersede all prior agreements and understandings, whether written or oral.

General Terms

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of our services and products accessed through our website. By accessing or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully.

The Driver

A. Only individuals listed in the Motor Rental Agreement are permitted to operate our Horsebox.

B. Drivers must be between 23 and 75 years of age during the Rental Term, unless prior agreement with insurers is obtained.

C. Every driver must possess a valid UK Driving Licence held for a minimum of three consecutive years from the Pickup Date.

D. Prior to operating the Horsebox, drivers must complete the Driver Profile.

E. Drivers are prohibited from:

I. Using the Horsebox for hire or reward; II. Engaging in any illegal activities with the Horsebox; III. Using the Horsebox for racing, pace making, or teaching driving; IV. Operating the Horsebox while under the influence of alcohol or drugs; V. Taking the Horsebox outside England, Scotland, and Wales without prior authorization.


A. Complete the Motor Rental Agreement; B. Fill out the Driver Profile; C. Agree to these terms; D. Authorize online payment via credit/debit card; E. Provide copies of all drivers’ licences; F. Submit copies of two utility bills; G. Pay a damage deposit; H. Sign the Motor Rental Agreement and Handover Condition Report upon collection and return.

Your Responsibilities

A. Sign the Motor Rental Agreement upon collecting the Horsebox. B. Complete a Handover Condition Report with Equinox Horse Transport to assess the Horsebox’s condition at pickup. C. Maintain the security of the Horsebox and its keys, ensuring it is always securely locked when unattended. D. Protect the Horsebox from adverse weather conditions. E. Use the correct fuel (pump diesel) for the Horsebox, avoiding red diesel. F. Refrain from selling, renting, or disposing of any part of the Horsebox. G. Do not grant legal rights over the Horsebox to any individual. H. Obtain permission from Equinox Horse Transport before any maintenance work on the Horsebox. I. Report any faults or issues with the Horsebox promptly. J. Return the Horsebox to the designated Return Point on the agreed Return Date. K. Accept responsibility for any damage or loss caused by negligence or misuse of the Horsebox. L. Complete a Return Report with Equinox Horse Transport to assess the Horsebox’s condition upon return. M. Cover the costs of repairing any damage to the Horsebox or its equipment. N. Ensure all personal belongings are removed from the Horsebox before return. O. Do not take the Horsebox outside the UK without prior arrangement. P. Adhere to the recommended capacity of the Horsebox, both in terms of passengers and animals. Q. Comply with legal load and weight regulations, using a weighbridge if necessary. Equinox Horse Transport is not liable for overloading fines or charges.

Rental Damage Deposit

A. Pay a refundable Rental Damage Deposit of £500 in advance to cover any damage or loss. B. The condition of the Horsebox upon return will be compared to its condition at pickup using the Handover Condition Report and Return Report. C. If the Horsebox is returned in the same condition as pickup, the Rental Damage Deposit will be refunded within 7 working days. D. Any damages exceeding the Rental Damage Deposit will be charged accordingly. E. Equinox Horse Transport reserves the right to recover additional costs for damages not covered by the Rental Damage Deposit. F. Additional surcharges may apply for specific damages or breaches of terms.


A. Insurance for the Horsebox is provided for the Rental Term and included in the Rental Payment. B. Full insurance details are available from Equinox Horse Transport offices. C. Upon pickup, you will receive a Motor Rental Agreement confirming Insurance Cover. D. You are liable for the excess amount on any insurance claims. E. Certain exclusions apply to the Insurance Cover, including specific types of damages or incidents.


A. You are responsible for ensuring the security of the Horsebox at all times. B. If the Horsebox is left unattended, it must be securely locked and parked in a safe location.

Fuel, Oil and Water

A. The Horsebox is supplied with a full tank of fuel at pickup and must be returned likewise. B. Regularly check oil and water levels and use the correct fluids during the Rental Term. C. Transporting generators requiring fuel is not permitted.


A. An allowance of 200 miles per day is provided, with additional mileage charged at 35p per mile thereafter.


A. Cancellations must be made in writing to Equinox Horse Transport and are subject to fees based on the timing of cancellation.

Pickup and Return

A. Pickup and return must be scheduled at designated locations and times. B. Failure to return the Horsebox on time may result in additional charges. C. Upon pickup, carefully inspect the Horsebox and report any issues to Equinox Horse Transport. D. Equinox Horse Transport will conduct a joint inspection upon return to assess any damages or issues.


A. Every effort is made to ensure Horsebox availability, but circumstances beyond our control may affect availability. B. In such cases, refunds or alternatives may be provided at Equinox Horse Transport’s discretion.

Suitable Persons

A. Equinox Horse Transport reserves the right to refuse service to individuals deemed unsuitable to operate the Horsebox. B. We may cancel the hire if any driver’s license is found to be invalid or not in accordance with the Hirer’s Profile.


A. Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the Horsebox.


A. Emergency services are available in the event of a breakdown or accident. B. You are responsible for any costs resulting from negligence, such as running out of fuel or losing keys.


A. Equinox Horse Transport is not liable for any loss or damage resulting from accidents. B. In the event of an accident, follow proper procedures and notify Equinox Horse Transport immediately.

Disclosure Information

A. Information provided may be disclosed to relevant agencies in the event of a breach of the Motor Rental Agreement.

Ending the Rental Contract

A. Equinox Horse Transport reserves the right to terminate the Rental Contract in case of breach or bankruptcy. B. Termination does not affect Equinox Horse Transport’s right to receive any outstanding payments.


A. These Terms and Conditions constitute the entire agreement between you and Equinox Horse Transport. B. These Terms do not confer any rights on third parties. C. English law governs these terms, and you submit to the jurisdiction of English courts.
